What is the difference between laminate and LVT flooring?
Both engineered flooring types offer similarities, but there are a few differences. Laminate flooring’s construct requires a fibrous backing which can cause problems in areas where any liquid comes into contact with the fibers. LVT flooring offers construction from 100 percent vinyl so it works better in areas where there may be water, such as in a highly humid environment, basements, etc.
How do I maintain my hardwood floors?
Hardwood floors are easy to maintain. Sweep them regularly to remove dirt and grit which can mar the finish. Mop with a damp mop without excess water. Rinse the floors with a clean mop. Be sure to clean up any spilled liquids quickly as they can absorb into the wood and cause warping.
What stone flooring options are available?
The primary stone flooring options include granite, quartz, travertine, marble, and slate. Some rarer options include mudstone, limestone, and onyx.
What is the process for carpet installation?
The old carpet is removed and the sub-flooring is prepped. The doors for the rooms involved are removed so there is access to the door sills and to make it easier for installing padding and carpeting. We then install tackless strips which hold the pad and carpeting in place. The next step is the installation of the carpet padding and the trimming and joining of the pad’s seams. Corner preparation is done next. The carpet is then trimmed to fit and its seams are sealed. Cutouts are installed for floor vents and other flooring obstacles. The leading edge of the carpet is then installed. Re-trim the edges and the carpet is then stretched. A binder bar is used and the final trimming of the carpet occurs.
How long does it take to refinish hardwood floors?
It can take upwards of five days. The time varies due to the number of coats of stain required. Each coat requires a full 24 hours to dry before the application of the next coat. Darker floors may need three or more coats of stain. Lighter colored floors may only take 48 hours from start to finish.
How will dust be contained during the refinishing of my wood floors?
We use special tools with built in vacuums that collect dust as it is created. We also seal the room in which we are working, in case any stray dust becomes airborne. We clean the room before adding stain.
Is it possible to repair hardwood floors?
Absolutely. In fact, we advise that one of our flooring experts inspect the floor before making a decision to repair or replace. Older hardwood floors are a treasure.
What type of carpet is recommended for high traffic areas?

What is the difference between ceramic and porcelain tile?
The primary difference between ceramic and porcelain tile is in the hardness of each tile type. Porcelain tile is typically harder than ceramic tile only because the clay used is more refined and denser. Hardness is not the same as strength as both tile types are fairly strong. Another difference is that porcelain tile absorbs less water than ceramic tiles so porcelain tiles work well indoors or outdoors.
